Frequently Asked Questions

Dr. Arturo Pereyra answers the most frequently asked questions about dental care.

If I need a dental crown, do I need a root canal first?

Not always. If the indication of the crown (cavity, broken tooth) the nerve is not damaged, then the crown can be done without a root canal.

What treatment follows a root canal?

A dental crown should be placed to protect the tooth, because the tooth will become more fragile over time.

What kind of implants do you use?

We use Straumman implants

How long do I have to wait after the implant is placed?

3 to 6 months is the regular time, but in some cases, the implant can be loaded with a temporary tooth immediately, this will depend on the stability of the implant after the surgery, or the handling of the soft tissue (gum) for esthetic purposes.

How many visits would I need to have dental implants?

The single implant placement requires three: 1 consultation, 2 the surgery appointment, and 3 the revision appointment.

How many days would I need to be in PV for dental implants?

We perform the surgical phase in a week, for the prosthetic phase, you would need from 7 to 10 days. (Even if you need more than one, we will rehabilitate them individually.)

What materials are the crowns made of?

We use E-max ceramic crowns.

What kind of Whitening do you offer?

We use Philips Zoom Whitening.

What should be avoided after teeth whitening?

For at least seven days after treatment, we suggest avoiding the following: coffee, tea, chocolate, wine, infusions, alcoholic beverages, and tobacco. Also, do not use colored mouthwash or toothpaste, as they contain artificial extracts and dyes.

Can I use my health insurance to pay my dental bills?

We do not accept payments directly through an insurance policy. If your insurer covers dental services expenses, we can help you fill out the information about the procedure, cost, number of appointments, and any necessary information in the formats required by your insurer so that you can continue the payment process directly with them.
